Team Captain Satinder Garcha
“We are thrilled to be bringing the spotlight back on the sport of Polo which has an important legacy for us in Singapore, especially with our long-standing history as the second oldest Polo Club in the world,” says Satinder Garcha, Team Captain and Singapore Polo Club President in a statement to the press. “We have such incredible local talent in Singapore, and this is our opportunity to showcase the skills and all the hard work that’s gone into making such fine sportsmen of our country.”
Though Garcha admits that the team faces tough competition, he is confident that Singapore will return with a “solid win”. The team captain lead the team through their silver-medal finish in the 2007 SEA Games. Since 1983, Polo has been featured a grand total of three times at the SEA Games. The Prudential Singapore Polo team is currently coached by 9-goal handicap Argentinian coach, Hector Julio Crotto. Crotto has previously coached teams that have played in the Argentine Open, aside from high-goal teams in the UK. The Singapore Polo Club recently hosted the 2017 Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup, a charity polo match between Prince Harry and famous Argentinian polo player, Nacho Figueras.
