Luxury hotels can be often defined by their state-of-the-art amenities, impeccable service and beautiful rooms. Some of the world’s most luxurious hotels, however, will not be complete without an equally luxurious entrance. Of the world’s most stunning hotels, we’ve selected their equally grand lobbies worthy of a visit and of course, a shot on Instagram:
EMIRATES PALACE, ABU DHABI
Created with the intention of showing off the authentic Arabian culture, the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi is nothing less than a palace. Over $3 billion was spent to build the palatial hotel, making it the world’s second most expensive hotel ever built, after Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay Sands. For a hotel so grand, its lobby offers an equally majestic atmosphere with a lovely spaciousness and high ceilings.
THE REVERIE SAIGON
This mixed-use development, which functions as a luxury hotel and a serviced apartment with office facilities and retail spaces all at once, is truly a fascinating work of art. The lobby is one that likely induces a reverie – seeing its gorgeously eclectic colour palette, dreamy staircases and arresting view of Saigon’s skyline.
ME DUBAI BY ZAHA HADID
Housed within the mixed-used, yet-to-open The Opus in Dubai, the 100-bedroom ME Dubai is futurism at its finest. The fact that it was designed by acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid is likely enough to have one expecting only the finest architectural masterpiece. The late Hadid, who passed away in 2016, was also the first woman to ever be awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. Slated to open next summer, ME Dubai is not without a vast lobby with some fascinating ceiling work, cascading down like stunning orbs of crystals.
HYATT REGENCY, SAN FRANCISCO
The most defining feature of San Francisco’s Hyatt Regency is likely its fascinating orb-like structure sitting conspicuously in its 42,000 square feet of space. Since its grand opening in 1973, the 17-story high atrium lobby of Hyatt Regency has remained a centre of attraction. You could say that the lobby is a bit of a ‘celebrity’, making appearances in various films including 1977 American satirical comedy High Anxiety and 1974 American action-drama disaster film The Towering Inferno.
RITZ CARLTON PHULAY BAY, KRABI
Surrounded by tranquillity, lush greenery and the gorgeous Andaman Sea, the Ritz Carlton Phulay Bay in Krabi is every bit a tropical paradise. The elegant resort also has a stunning open-air lobby, surrounded by water for a touch of romance.
FOUR SEASONS HOTEL GEORGE V, PARIS
The luxurious landmark hotel is surrounded by some of Paris’ more iconic sights, including the Champs-Élysees, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. Its lobby is as impressive, boasting an airiness one can expect from a lovely garden walk – likewise, the lobby of Four Seasons Hotel George V is peppered with fresh flowers and an elegant ambiance.
MAKATI SHANGRI-LA, MANILA
A great, dazzling chandelier dangles from the high ceiling, flanked by grand staircases from a spacious lobby. In between a touch of baroque and a lot of grandiosity, afternoon high tea at Makati Shangri-La’s Lobby Lounge won’t be complete without an impressive performance with a 14-piece orchestra, amid a splendid verdant garden.
