Louis Vuitton has recently collaborated with the world famous Roland-Garros 2017 (The French Open) to debut two trophy trunks, marking a significant collaboration between two French brands. The trunks will encase the Suzanne Lenglen Cup and the Musketeers’ Cup for this year’s French Open. The cups are awarded each year to the women’s and men’s champions for the major tennis tournament, respectively. The trophies are equally prestigious, having been manufactured by the Maison Mellerio, the world’s oldest jeweller and goldsmith.
The bespoke trunks boast impeccable craftsmanship in Louis Vuitton’s historic Asnières-based workshops, with a finishing look that is as illustrious as the Roland-Garros trophies they will hold. Finished by hand, the trunks are not without the signature Monogram canvas, complete with the instantly recognizable brass corners and lock features. To evoke the action-packed clay courts on the ongoing French Open, find its interior boasts a lovely terracotta colour. Prior to the exciting singles finals for both women and men, visual artist Vik Muniz returns after creating the 2017 Roland-Garros poster to add a personal finishing touch to customize the trunks.
“The partnership between two of the finest French brands is a symbol that will inspire the champions during the tournament fortnight,” says Bernard Giudicelli, President of the French Tennis Federation in a statement to the press. “Our trophies have never been so beautiful as in this magnificent new case. It’s a fabulous highlight for Roland-Garros 2017.”

Additionally, with the 35th America’s Cup presented by Louis Vuitton, the maison also marks over 30 years of shared history with a new bespoke travel case (above). The case, complete with a stunningly vivid scarlet V, will specially transport the America’s Cup, and be presented to the champions.
